Technical Services Analyst

The Center for Technology in Education (CTE), a partnership of the Johns Hopkins University Graduate Division of Education and the Maryland State Department of Education, is seeking a highly motivated individual to join a dedicated, creative group committed to improving education for all students through appropriate uses of technology.  CTE builds programs to maximize learning opportunities for students with disabilities and conducts research on general and special education program effectiveness and on the use of assistive technology accommodations.

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for technically managing and supporting key aspects of The Center for Technology in Educations (CTE) technical infrastructure, product development activities, and emerging technologies work. Duties include performing maintenance and support activities on multiple Windows servers (back-ups, patches and updates); performing quality assurance (QA) testing for CTE web-based applications (including web accessibility testing); tracking documenting bugs and glitches within CTE products; coordinating the installation of new code versions with CTE’s technical outsource partners; providing internal technical support related to CTE’s tools; and assisting CTE administrative staff with the purchasing of technology (pc’s, servers, lab equipment).

Qualifications

  • BA /BS degree with 2 + years of experience managing servers and/or implementing web-based technical development projects (additional years of related experience may be substituted for degree requirement).
  • Strong general technical knowledge in a wide variety of web, database, and multimedia-related areas.
  • Proven ability to learn and adapt new technologies and quickly develop the necessary skills required to utilize, explain, and make decisions regarding newly introduced technologies.
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Genuine interest in staying technically current on web, database and multimedia technologies, and their impact on education.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
