  Session 1 -- Activity 5

Activity 5~~ Reflection (20 minutes)

Objective: Reflect on what you have learned in Session 1.

Context: During this Session, you have investigated how children acquire language, and explored Camboure's "Conditions of Learning". In addition, you have read two pieces by Dr. G. Reid Lyon and have applied what you learned to your own classroom.

Activity: As you complete this first session, think back to your KWLL chart one more time. Consider how you might answer the following questions:

  • If you were to complete the chart now, what would you list in the first column?
  • How has your knowledge of language development improved since you began?
  • Did you learn what you were hoping to learn?
  • What are you still eager to know about language acquisition and reading?

When you're finished, please proceed to Session 2
