   Session 3 -- Activity 4

Activity 4 ~~ Read Aloud Favorites (45 minutes)

Objective: Choose appropriate Read Aloud books for your classroom.

Activity: Choose 5 books in your classroom that you would use as Read Aloud books. Make a list of these books and provide a rationale for each choice you make. Then, use the checklist below to see if each book was a good choice.

Checklist for Good Read Alouds

____ High interest (picture) book
____ May be a Big Book
____ Rich language, absorbing plot, lively characters
____ Not familiar
____ Not something the children could read by themselves
____ Not highly complex

How did you do? If you checked at least three of the items on the list for each book, you did a good job!
