   Session 4 -- Activity 4

Activity 4 ~~ Exploring a Running Record (2 hours)

Objective: Practice creating a Running Record with another adult.

Activity: Review the Running Record sample entitled "Hey Diddle Diddle." Notice the conventions for coding and look carefully at the scoring. Here you can find how to score the error rate, the accuracy rate, and the self-correction rate (SC rate).

Then jot down a nursery rhyme you know on one half of a piece of paper. Find an adult who will read as a novice reader. Practice taking a Running Record and coding the conventions on the other half of the paper. Be sure to analyze how your reader has done with the nursery rhyme.

When you're finished, please proceed to Activity 5.
