Spring Forum: On March 16, 2004, MSDE hosted an orientation for representatives of schools who are interested in attending the 2004 Summer Institute. (MSDE prefers that interested schools send an administrator to this forum). Attendees were given information and an application to assist in preparation for the New Team training at the July Institute. The morning consisted of a presentation by Dr. George Sugai, Co-Director of the Center on Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports at the University of Oregon. After lunch, Maryland’s Exemplar school teams presented workshops designed to inform the attendees of their success in implementing PBIS.

Summer Institute: The 2003 PBIS Institute took place July 14 through July 18 2003. This Institute provided training to 72 new schools teams and follow-up training for approximately 70 of the previously trained teams, and training for 25 new coaches.

The Summer Institute 2004 will be held July 12-16. Behavior support coaches will be trained on Monday the 12th, Returning Teams on Tuesday and Wednesday, and New Teams on Thursday and Friday. Additional details concerning the Summer Institute are available at www.pbismaryland.org.
