Promoting School Safety Through School Leadership: The Four Ps

Develop a Debriefing Plan to be Implemented after a Crisis has Occured:

Steps

Step 1: Identify personnel required for a debriefing: counselors, psychologists, clergy, health and safety officials, law enforcement personnel. Depending on the nature of the crises, many of the above mentioned personnel should be involved in the debriefing. Individual, small group and faculty/staff meetings can be the format for the debriefing. It is important to allow time for healing, particularly in an emotionally charged situation, such as a shooting, suicide/death or other situation where lives have been endangered.
