Promoting School Safety Through School Leadership: The Four Ps
Develop a Tool for the Evaluation of the Safety Plan:
Steps
In developing the Safety Plan Evaluation, a check list is suggested
to simplify the evaluation. Included in the list could be items such
as the following: Did the established chain of command work smoothly?
Did
all persons in the leadership positions understand the expectations?
Were
the appropriate assistance personnel called in a timely fashion?
Did the appropriate assistance personnel arrive at the school setting
in a timely fashion?
Was the school or school area evacuated in a safe and orderly
manner?
Were handicapped individuals given the assistance they required
for the safe and calm evacuation of their areas?
Were district level administrators involved throughout the
crisis situation?
If areas of need became apparent during the evaluation, have
steps been taken to address the needs?
Was the debriefing process completed to meet the needs
of the crisis participants?
