Welcome to the
Being a Leader in Your School Community Tutorial

School Safety Net Logo This tutorial is provided by
http://schoolsafetynet.jhu.edu

The purpose of this tutorial is to offer tools and information that you can use to become a leader in your school community, respected by both peers and adults. The topics covered in this tutorial include:

• Taking Personal Responsibility
• Being a Student Advocate and Responsible Peer
• Being an Active and Responsible Member of the School Community

Through the completion of this tutorial, students will create a Personal Responsibility Plan of Action that will include three main goals. One goal will focus on oneself, another on peers, and the last goal will focus on the school community as a whole. Each goal will have concrete steps to follow as well as a timeline for completion. Additionally, students will be urged to get feedback on their plans from at least one peer and one adult. After the students have begun to implement the plan, they will return to the plan and reflect upon the steps they are taking.
