How to Use This Tutorial

Image Map

Take advantage of the flexible nature of this tutorial and pace yourself. We recommend moving through the site one module at a time and then taking at least a 15-minute break. You will retain more if you are relaxed and focused.

Accessible both linearly and non-linearly, this is a flexible tutorial. It is designed to introduce a range of learners to the Project Builder and to be a quick reference tool. How you decide to move through this tutorial is up to you and is best informed by your needs. If you are interested in getting a comprehensive look at the Project Builder, experiencing the tutorial linearly will likely be your best approach. However, if you are already familiar with portal technology (and/or have prior experience with online builders), but have specific functionality questions, non-linear navigation may be most suitable.

To move through the tutorial linearly:

You will use the navigation buttons on the left side of the screen. The dark tan colored buttons offer theory and background information on the Project Builder while the light tan colored buttons guide you progressively through the functionality of the entire environment. A navigation trail appears at the top of each section containing multiple pages so you can easily track your virtual location.

To move through the tutorial non-linearly:

You will either use the navigation bar submenu or the Project Builder image map. To use the navigation bar submenu, scroll over the navigation bar and pay attention to the submenu pop-ups attached to each button. When you find the section you seek, click the corresponding submenu title to access more information.
