Overview:

The Louisiana Challenge Grant Project is developing comprehensive programs that use telecommunications to increase participation in high-tech learning by K-12 students in five underserved Louisiana school districts.

The project is designed to:

1) develop transferable models for ensuring equity of access for underserved students and for maximizing the use of buildings and infrastructure in underserved communities to support school and community needs;

2) Increase student achievement in underserved areas via the use of telecommunications by addressing professional development for educators and community partners, school readiness, parental involvement, school-to-work transition, lifelong learning skills;

and

3) document successful practices for widespread use in other underserved communities across the country.
