Overview:

The Maryland Tech Consortium is composed of representatives from the state department of education, local education agencies, higher education institutions and the business community. It employs a multi-component approach to provide high quality professional development experiences to Maryland educators by bringing into strategic alignment a number of successful staff development practices that have been developed and implemented by the consortium partners. These components include:

  • summer technology academy
  • professional development schools
  • graduate education programs
  • innovative district-based professional development practices
  • distance learning
  • professional development resources developed by Consortium partners
  • virtual learning communities
  • The Consortium uses a whole-school approach and heavily involves administrators and members of school improvement teams, as well as teachers at all stages of their careers and all levels of technology intergration proficieny. Consortium activites focus on simultaneously upgrading the skills of those directly innvolved and building a self-perpetuating network of technology mentors and leaders.
