Project Homepage: Overview: The Education Connection features a five year collaboration by six public broadcasters with 21 partner schools throughout the United States. The partners are: KCET-TV, Los Angeles; Louisiana Public Broadcasting; Mississippi Educational Television, the SOUNDPRINT Media Center, Washington, DC and Laurel, MD; WHRO FM/TV, Norfolk, Va; and WHYY FM/TV, Philadelphia, Pa. The project partners are committed to the following: * Developing curriculum for K-12 using new telecommunications technologies; * Implementing infrastructure for teachers, students and parents in at-risk school districts to assure the appropriate use of the curriculum; * Providing training for teachers, parents, and administrators not only for the use of technology in the classroom, but for the adaptation of curriculum; * Designing an evaluation strategy which uses the attainment of local, regional and national standards as benchmarks to measure the effectiveness of curriculum, technology implementation and training; * Disseminating the curriculum, the training, and the evaluation results nationally. |
