Generation Why

Project Homepage:http://genwhy.wednet.edu/

Overview:

The Generation Why Project, led by the Olympia School District in Washington state, focuses on today's new generation of youth as partners, and often as leaders, in bringing technology into the classroom. The District will be the lead agency for a national network of 14 school districts that will use this unique strategy in which the students train teachers to integrate computers into the curriculum. The Olympia model, which has already been successful in the district's secondary schools, will be used to train a cadre of student and teacher technology leaders who will establish a World Wide Web site with guidelines for using new technologies to improve student learning. A total of 21 consortium partners -- 7 school districts, 2 institutions of higher education, and 12 corporations -- will contribute to this project.
