"Helping Maryland educators work together to integrate technology and improve student performance"
The Maryland Tech Consortium (MTC) provides opportunities for ongoing professional development for teachers using an inquiry-based, reflective teaching model. Educators throughout Maryland integrate technology in their classrooms to improve student performance aligned with Maryland Content Standards and State Assessments, with a focus on secondary reading, writing, and information literacy.

The MTC is comprised of representatives from local education agencies: Montgomery, Prince Georges, and Baltimore Counties; the State Department of Education; two institutions of higher education: Johns Hopkins University and Towson University; Maryland Public Television; and, MACRO, an independent evaluator. The MTC employs a multi-component approach to provide high-quality professional development experiences to Maryland educators by bringing into strategic alignment a number of successful professional development practices that have been developed and implemented by Consortium partners.
The Consortium uses a whole-school approach and heavily involves administrators and members of school improvement teams, as well as teachers at all stages of their careers and all levels of technology integration proficiency. Consortium activities focus on simultaneously upgrading the skills of those directly involved and building a self-perpetuating network of technology mentors and leaders.
