The success of the Maryland Tech Consortium is determined by measuring the degree to which project goals and objectives are accomplished. The goals and objectives of the Maryland Tech Consortium are as follows.

Goal 1: Increase organizational capacity to develop, test, and implement effective models of delivering technology-related professional development.

1.1 To increase the skills, expertise, and resources of the partners through collaborative planning and implementation of a model of professional development by building upon the combined expertise, skills, and resources of the partners.

1.2 To collaboratively plan and implement a model of professional development, using expertise, skills and resources of the partners.

1.3 To monitor and continuously improve the partnership.

1.4 To determine and promote future funding and sustainability.

Goal 2: Develop and evaluate variants of an inquiry-based professional development model.

2.1 To develop professional development in instructional uses of technology, based on National Staff Development Council standards and aligned with Maryland Content standards.

2.2 To develop a system for collecting information on student performance impacted through professional development activities.

2.3 To develop a system of collecting data on professional development activities.

Goal 3: Develop innovative products and resources for use in professional development initiatives.

3.1 To develop and utilize innovative products that support the teaching process and development of targeted student skills.

3.2 To incorporate innovative products and resources into delivery of professional development.

Goal 4: Implement the inquiry-based professional development model and evaluate the resulting changes in teacher behaviors in order to improve student achievement.

4.1 To implement quality professional development based on the MTC model.

4.2 To build instructional technology integration skills to support student learning.

4.3 To build skills in collecting classroom data and reflecting on what it means for teaching practice.

4.4 To develop instructional leaders at schools who serve as a resource and model for others.

Goal 5: Integrate technology into the instructional program to improve student academic performance.

5.1 To involve students in activities that will support attainment of targeted skills through technology.

5.2 To improve students’ skills in reading, communication, and information literacy through the use of technology.

Goal 6: Disseminate and promote use of the proven models of professional development and associated resources throughout the Consortium, State, and Nation.

6.1 To disseminate information about the professional development model and activities.

6.2 To promote use of the professional development model through publications (Web, print, multimedia), conferences, and presentations.
