The Maryland Technology Academy, an intensive professional development opportunity for teachers across Maryland, is a partnership of the Maryland State Department of Education , Johns Hopkins University Center for Technology in Education and Towson University . The Maryland General Assembly established the Academy in the Maryland State Department of Education through House Bill 1347 in 1998. Supplemental funding is provided by the Maryland Technology Consortium.
The Academy is designed to provide a cadre of K-16 teachers throughout Maryland with professional development opportunities that focus on using technology to significantly impact student learning and promote school improvement. The Academy has served nearly 2000 Maryland educators.
