The MTC professional development model for technology integration includes these core components:
Intensive inquiry-based professional development that includes reflective teaching/action research;
- Professional development that is focused on using technology to teach and learn the secondary Maryland Content Standards;
- Systematic follow-up support;
- Electronic and face-to-face communities of learners; and
- The development of authentic products as a result of the professional development.
Some of the products developed by the Consortium include:
- The Maryland Technology Academy
and Fall Institute which focus on technology integration and leadership, school and district training, and distance learning. These activities are collaboratively designed, implemented, and evaluated by members of the consortium
- Evaluation plans and tools include several database modules for measuring teacher and student engagements in the use of technology
- An Action Research database for collecting information about the action research/reflective teaching projects
- Exemplary products and lessons accessible to teachers for use in the classroom or in professional development sessions.
- Resource materials that enable users to replicate and implement the MTC model. Materials include rubrics and guidelines for implementation
- The Electronic Learning Community
- a tool that that allows community participants to post and access digital resources; contribute to chat sessions, discussion boards, and calendars; and keep in touch with other community members via a host of online communication tools
- Online Courses developed and in MTC Professional Development. Teachers are also provided access to online courseware in order to create their own online courses for students.
