Hazel L. Younker, The Bartender
Written By: Brandon
On January 17,1931 Hazel Younker
was born. With her sister she grew up on a small farm in Pennsylvania.
I now know her as Mom-Mom. She is caring for anyone that asks her to help
her but she sometimes can have a fit but she loves those who have helped
her along her way up until now. She is 68. She still remembers the best
moments of her life. That is why I have taken the time to interview her
and tell you about her amazing life.
She had many memories in her younger life. Mom-Mom has one sister Dorothy
Leonard. She grew up with her sister. She didn’t grow up around boys except
for her Dad and the boys in school. She had many chores. She had to do
about five chores in one day. But these chores were not easy. Mom-Mom had
to help her sister cook and carry wood. She walked to school about a half-mile.
She thinks that those days were harder then now I think she is right. Her
father loved her whatever she did he helped her.
Later in her life she went to high school and met new friends, one of those
friends she loved to be with. His name was Charles she went to dances with
him. She loved him no matter what he did she would forgive him. Later she
didn’t go to college. She and Charles went out a lot and later wanted to
be married.
Later after all her friends were out of College she married to Charles
in 1961, as she always wanted to. Mom-Mom went to some dances after they
got married. Mom-Mom loved to go out to dinner with him. But, in 1989 Pop-Pop
went to the hospital he came out in 3 or 4 months. He wasn’t in good condition
until a year later.
Her in her life
she had to get surgery on her knee in 1995. Mom-Mom hated the surgery because
she was away from her family. Charles also died in 1995. Mom-Mom did not
like that year because many things went wrong like her husband went into
the hospital twice but died the second time he went in. She hates to think
about that but she does. Because she now knows that he is in a better place.
She really wanted him back but she can’t get him back until she dies.
Now she lives in Baltimore County she lives in a small town house. She
visits my Aunt and me a lot because she loves us and wants to spend as
much time as she can with us. So she barley has time at her house if we
need her she will be here so she is one of the most reliable people that
I know. She also buys many things for us when we need it.
