Year 3 Year 3 saw further refinement to the program’s curriculum and operations. Fellows were very satisfied with the program, gained skills, and shared what they learned with students and peers. The Year 3 Fellows regarded the MTA Leadership Program very highly. Nearly all viewed their overall MTA experience as very good or excellent. Improvements from previous years were seen in many areas including program pacing, match with participants’ skill levels and learning preferences, and the degree to which instructors modeled technology integration. This may be attributable to a change in the overall curriculum structure in Year 3. For the first time, Fellows were given more technologies to choose from in developing their learning activities. Fellows gained skills in many areas related to integrating technology into instruction. In virtually all skill areas, more than 90 percent of Fellows reported “some” or “a great deal” of improvement in their skills, and in nearly every skill area, the gain was higher than in either of the previous years. Fellows also reported that their participation in the MTA Leadership program affected their instructional practice and that they were better able to use technology in instruction. Fellows also reported being more able to provide training and assistance to others and promote change in their schools and districts. In fact, at the end of the Summer Institute, the Year 3 cohort was more confident that they had gained these skills than either of the previous cohorts. Many Fellows took on new leadership responsibilities in their buildings and/or districts, often providing training and assistance to other teachers.
