What is the American
Technology Honor Society?
The American Technology Honor
Society is sponsored by the National Association of Secondary School
Principals (NASSP) and the Technology Student Association (TSA).
Announcing the formation of the ATHS at the White House, October 10,
1995, President Clinton said, "We are launching the American
Technology Honor Society to harness the high-tech skills of
exceptional students so they can expand their own school's use of
technology. Every child in America deserves the chance to get
high-tech know-how to unlock the promises of the twenty-first
century."
ATHS is designed to help schools
harness the potential of all our nation's students using technology
as the major resources-to revolutionize and enhance American
education. Individual schools establish chapters of ATHS by
chartering with the national office. These chapters can recognize
students for their technological achievements and are encouraged
to:
- enhance the technological
expertise of members
- provide a student mentor
program
- establish training program for
school faculty members and the community
- strengthen the school's
relationships with business and industry
