Notes to Teacher

This Web Quest follows a unit on persuasion.  The persuasion unit teaches the elements of persuasion:  stating opinions, using supporting facts and examples, connecting ideas logically and through reasoning, and appealing to the audience.  It also includes techniques used to persuade: testimonials, bandwagon, emotional appeal, endorsements, repetition, snob appeal, card stacking, etc.
Some of the resources used for the unit include Persuasive Writing, (grades 4-8) a Scholastic, Inc. publication and a unit created collaboratively by Christa Daskal, Juana Hawkins, Chris Youstra, and Jennifer White.  If you use the Web Quest please provide feedback on how it worked for you and your students, as well as any adaptations you made.   If you would like to use the Web Quest and need assistance, feel free to send me a message.  (See information at bottom of Web Quest)
