Process for Task C- Examining the work of Thomas Edison

 

#1 Meet as a group to read your common task. You will be using the jigsaw model of cooperative learning to complete your task.

Common task: In this task you will explore the different genres of early film. Each member of your four person group will be responsible for defining the time period, major characteristics, and purpose of two different genres. As a group you will be responsible for creating a graphic organizer that shares the information that you find.

#2 Each group member will go to computer stations A, B, C, or D.

#3 Watch two different types of films at your assigned station.

#4 Read the description of the two different genres that are at your station.

#5 Discuss your observations with the other "analysts" at your station. Identify the films that you have seen. What seem to be the main characteristics of each genre? What was the purpose of each film? When were most films of this genre created?

#6 Meet with your core group. Share your findings. Decide upon a graphic organizer that will best share your information. Work cooperatively to create this work. Self assess your work using the provided rubric.
