Produce
and Pitch!
You will work in a production
team to develop and "pitch" your idea for our eighth grade magazine
format television show. Each member of your four person group should
select a role from the following list:
- Producer:
You are in charge of organizing the group. It is your job to make
sure that all tasks are completed. You will also be responsible
for helping to create and organize the final presentation of your
group segment idea. You are also responsible for determining and
presenting the budgetary needs for producing your segment. It will
be responsibility to make sure that consensus is reached on group
decisions.
- Scriptwriter:
Although each group member should contribute their thoughts, you
will be responsible for actually writing/typing the proposal. You
will need to include essential details in a summary, as well as a
sample script for the segment.
- Audio
Engineer: You are
responsible for the audio components of your segment. You should
prepare a cassette tape that will include segment music, sound
effects, as well as a list that details specific
needs-(lavalieres, pzm, hand held mic, mike stand,
etc.
- Art
Director: Your job
is to "dress" the set. You will need to create a list of materials
and props that will be needed for your proposed segment. Are there
any wardrobe considerations that need to be made for this segment?
You are also responsible for creating a graphic image that can be
used as an icon for the proposed segment.
1.Divide into groups of
four.
2. As a group, decide upon
roles for each person.
3. As a group, read your tasks
and brainstorm different ideas for a segment. Keep in mind the goals
that we have set as a class for standards in the development of
children's television programming.
4. Discuss the assessment
criteria and develop your action plan.
5. Search through your
resources to gather information.
6. Create your presentation
materials. Practice your pitch.
