                                                                            Task

What topic have you choosen for your science fair project? What area of science interest you? Do you enjoy creating math puzzles? Do you enjoying writing poetry?
This webquest is geared for a group of students to work together. The group will surf the internet (by using the resources listed below) to help them broaden their knowledge of the many different fields in science or math.  Each group will hand in a chart which will have the 6 sites listing the URL address, field of science or math, write the question for the experiment and what you think the hypothesis for the experiment would be. After completing the chart, please print out the chart.

Resources

Listed below are the different fields in science and math. Each field has a list of many interesting questions that will engage your interest in deciding what topic you will be choosing for your science fair project.
  • Agriculture does not have a category of its own, involves the growing process of plants in different environments.
  •  Botany is also not a category of its own, it is just like Agirculture, involves the growing process of plants.
  • Games are fun to play. Would you like to create you own Math Game?
  • Working with 3 dimensions, creating math puzzles, using angles and straight lines to create a scientific questions is using Geometry?

  • Are you a number cruncher? Why soes the telephone company never give you someone elses home number?
  • Velocity, acceleration, and  reflection of light are types of Physic questions. Are you an inquiring mind wnting to know?
  • Who is Reeko? Reeko is a scientist that has great ideas for student scientist. Reeko breaks his science fair project into many different categories. Are you interested in principles of flotation, capillary action visit Reeko's science page
  • Reeko has another science page, her are some of the titles, "Spinless Potato", "Happy Dancing Raisins", "Am I Dense",aand "Rocket Powered Pennies".
  • What is weathering?  What is an antacid? What is acid rain? What is typography? Choose on of the questions from this wonderful scientific page, and take an educated quess in what scientific field these questions belong in and hypothesis?
  • Yvonne Karsten wrote a web page to help students find creative questions for their science fair projects.
  • Create a fog cloud! Creat Lightning! Creat Rain! Make your own Magnetometer! Astronomy, earth science, do these fields of science interest you? ( To use this site, to find scientific experiments, you must click on classroom activities)

The Process

Listed below are the procedures:
  • Student scientist will work in groups of 3.
  • Scientist will browse the fields of many interesting questions.
  • Each group fill out the Student Site Analysis chart. They will fill in the URL address, field of science or math, write the scientific question and what they think the hypothesis of the scientific question would be. Then summaries the experiment ina sentence.
  • Student scientist will choose one of their scientific questions to present to the class. They all will have a part in presenting the scietific question, hypothesis, and their summary.
