Introduction

 

You have been hired by the curator of the local zoo to help in setting up an Australian animal exhibit. You are expected to research 3 animals and find out the necessary information for him. There is a chart you will fill in with the information that you locate on the Internet, through books, or other resources. You will locate where these animals live on a map so the curator will know where to locate them. When you have completed your research you will present the information to him in a Kid Pix or Hyperstudio presentation, be sure to include a picture of each animal in the presentation.

The Task

 

You will complete the chart using the resources both online and offline for 3 animals.

Locate and Label where in Australia the 3 animals live and mark it on a map.

You will make a presentation of the information you collect, including pictures, using HyperStudio or Kid Pix.

Evaluate your work using the rubric linked to this page.

The Process

 
  1. Print the chart.
  2. Select 3 Australian animals from this list to research. Put their names on the chart.
  3. Use the online, book, and non print resources to find the information needed to complete the chart.
  4. Complete the chart for all 3 animals.
  5. Get a map of Australia from your teacher or print out a copy from here.
  6. Locate and label the location of all 3 animals on the map
  7. Get storyboard papers from your teacher or print some from here.
  8. Plan your presentation using the storyboard papers. Be sure to include all of the information the zoo curator will need.
  9. Construct your presentation from your storyboard papers using either HyperStudio or KidPix.
  10. Evaluate your presentation using the rubric linked to this Web Quest.
 

Evaluation

Use the rubric to evaluate your project. This same rubric will be used by the teacher to evaluate your project.
 

Conclusion

By now you have completed the task you were hired to do. The zoo curator is very thankful for all of your assistance. He will now be able to decide which animals to include in his exhibit and the needs of these animals.
