Section III - Issues

Your task is to first find an issue that supports the basic ideas found in the Preamble of the Constitution. To do this, use the links to various newspaper and magazine websites and scan the headlines. You will probably want to focus your attention on the National sections of the sites and look for articles that explain government action.

Once you have found an article, complete the information below.

Title, Author, source, copyright

Brief Synopsis

Which of the basic tenants from the Preamble to the Constitution does your article describe?

Now it's time to find an issue that you feel is not represented properly as stated in the Preamble of the Constitution. For example, the Preamble states that the government will ensure domestic tranquility. With all of the recent gun violence in schools, is this really true?

Brief Synopsis

How does the article you have chosen demonstrate that the government is not upholding the basic tenants of the Preamble of the Constitution?

Now you must ask yourself some questions.

Yes No Am I interested in the issue in which the article describes?
Yes No Am I willing to create an action plan dealing with this issue?
Yes No Do I think that I can find multiple sources of information on my issue?

If you answered "no" to any of these questions, please find a different issue or see Mr. Miller for help.
