Introduction

Wow! Isn't the internet wonderful? You have been integrating it into your classroom for years. Other teachers think you're crazy... they think the internet is a waste of time. You've tried to get them on the information super highway for years. You've tried many after school training sessions, but in the end, nobody uses the information or integration tactics you've so cleverly put together. Maybe it's you... or maybe it's something else. Maybe you just don't understand the true needs of your faculty?

Task

You are on your school's technology committee. In an effort to improve online integration into the curriculum, your committee has decided to determine the needs of your faculty in order to create more effective internet training. You have been asked to work with three of your faculty members to assess their skill levels and develop an online training program to help familiarize them with the internet, its basics, or possibly even some advanced skills depending on the faculty member. Where do you start?

Process

Below, you will see the profiles of the faculty members you will be working with. Examine their profiles in order to better determine who you will be working with, and what their skill levels are.

The Faculty

After examining these profiles, you will need to determine which type of on-line training plan you will recommend for each faculty member. In order to help you do this, you will need to use the Faculty Planning Sheet to help you determine each faculty members needs. Then you will need to use the Web Evaluation Sheet in order to help you decide which site is appropriate for which faculty member based on their needs.

Resources

These are the on-line resources you will need to evaluate in order to make recommendations for faculty use.

Evaluation

After completing this web quest, you will have created three separate on-line training programs for three different faculty members. You will also have a better understanding of how to evaluate resources to better plan and implement on-line training programs. In addition, your learners can proceed at their own pace.

Conclusion

As you finish designing your on-line internet training sessions for each of your faculty members, you will have learned quite a bit about the internet and how it works. You will also take away the knowledge of how to get others started on their own personal journey through the tangled web know as the "Internet."
