Goal: Improve student learning by incorporating performance based writing in all content areas. Improved achievement in writing will be measured using the spring 2001 MSPAP. The local school improvement plan has set the goal of having 40% of third grade students meeting the satisfactory standard in writing. A target of 10% of third grade students meeting the excellent standard has also been established. This multimedia project using Microsoft Powerpoint is designed for staff development. |

Project Summary: Writing to Inform – “Wax Museum” Students will read a biography and research relevant information on a famous American. Students play the role of a wax model and write to inform a peer audience the highlights and significant events of their famous American. Students will use Inspiration to organize notes, use writing strategies such as F-TAP and CUPS to refine writing, and use Kidpix Studio to create an accompanying slideshow of their famous American. |
