Project Summary:

This multimedia project was designed to serve as a model for my students to view as they prepare their own Microsoft PowerPoint presentations.  Additionally, this  presentation  was designed to visually explain to the viewer the premise that technology built Baltimore.  The photos, video and text relive a historical summary of the major technological achievements that helped Baltimore grow as a city.  Current technological applications are also presented.  This PowerPoint presentation will be linked to a web page that can be viewed over the Internet.

Objectives/Desired Results (What will the learners understand as a result of this project?)

·  Student writing scores will increase by five (5) percent as measured on the MSPAP

·  Student writing scores will increase by five (5) percent as measured by an informal              pretest and posttest writing sample

·  Students will recognize and explain the nature and characteristics of technologies that made Baltimore great in the past and keep Baltimore a growing city today

·  Students will identify and explain the impact technology has on the environment, the individual and society

Plans for Facilitation:

After viewing my PowerPoint presentation, students will receive instruction in PowerPoint and demonstrate their ability to complete the necessary computer skills.  Students will collect research data through books, periodicals, photographs and a trip to the Baltimore Museum of Industry.  Students will design a presentation using the story board technique.  Students will design their PowerPoint presentation.
