Introduction
Congratulations! You have just been hired on as an employee of the Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR). This is a real-life government agency that works to monitor the overall health of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. Your report will be given to a company that wants to build a new amusement park facility on and around the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.

Select a person in your group to be the:

     Reader: Reads text and procedures to group members, or use Text Reader

     Writer:Collects data on charts, organizers, operates searching, links

     Designer: Creates multi-media proposal with team input
 

Task
 

Before you prepare you presentation, your group must collect pieces of information on the current health of organisms in the ecosystem of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. Your group will select only one organism and find out the following information about it:

1. First, you need to do some reading about Ecosystems.
2. Next, read the following article about Food Chains 2. Next, click to select one of the organisms in the ecosystem of the Chesapeake Bay.
3. Now that you have selected an organism to research, read that site with your group.
4. Use the graphic organizer to cover important information your team will have             to include on your proposal.
5. Read Water Quality Link

Resources

Use the Hot Topics list of web sites to access any other information that you feel may help you to present a better proposal to DNR. Do not go outside of web sites approved on Hot Topics list without your teacher's permission.
 

Proposal:

Now that you are done researching, prepare the proposal you will submit to DNR. Use Claris Works to compose a slide show of the key information you want to communicate. Remember, you are the experts! Be sure to take a stand on whether or not the new amusement park should be built. Use data from your research to support your conclusions. An outline for your proposal is given by clicking here.
