The Three Little Sunfish and the Big Bad Crab

By: Shane M.

Once upon a time there were three little sunfish. The first one's name was William, the second one's name was Brock, and the third one's name was of course SHANE. When they went to lunch in the Chesapeake Bay on the side where Kent Island is. Their mother told her little sunfish sweetly, "It is time for you to go out into the bay without me. You will leave tomorrow at dawn. " So when they were finished lunch, they began packing which took them at least five hours. After they finished packing, they went to bed. Then the next morning they ate breakfast. When breakfast was over, their mother told them, "Good-bye, and beware of the BIG, BAD, CRAB! " So the three of them traveled out into the bay. Then they swam, and they swam, and they swam some more. Finally, the trail split into three ways. William went north, Brock went northeast, and Shane went east. While the first sunfish swam he came to an eel selling sand. (In the Chesapeake Bay they use little clamshells as money). So the first little sunfish, William bought some sand, and built his house right there. Now who should come along, but the BIG BAD CRAB!! It took him awhile, but he found William. When he found William he said, "Little fish, little fish, let me come in!! "William answered, " No, no, no, I will not let you in. Not by the scales on my stomach, stomach, stomach. I won't let you in, not for all the shells in my seaweed bowl. " " I WILL NOT LET YOU IN MY HOUSE!!!!" The crab said, "Then I'll blow and I 'll blow and I 'll bubble your house down." So he did. The first sunfish just managed to escape. The first fish ran to his brother's house made out of crab grass, sea grass and seaweed. Then the crab followed the trail of the first fish. When the first fish was at his brother's house at Broad Creek he ran inside and locked the doors. Then the crab arrived. He said, "Little fish, little fish let me come in. " The two fish said at the same time " No, no, no, not by the scales on our stomachs, stomachs, stomachs. " The crab said "Then I'll blow and I'll blow and I'll bubble your house down. " So he did. The two fish escaped. They swam to the third fish's house made out of rocks and mud and shells and wood. The third fish wasn't quite done. The two brothers helped. When they were done, they got inside and locked the doors. The crab came again. First the crab tried to get in without asking but you probably knew that wouldn't work. So he said, "Little fish, little fish, let me come in. " But the answer was, "No, no, no, not by the scales on our stomach's, stomach’s, stomach’s!” So the crab said, “Then I’ll blow and I’ll blow and I’ll bubble your house down.” So he tried but a claw broke off and his shell broke in half. So they lived happily ever after eating crab in their brother’s house.
