Night
By Kristi Lee
Nobody really knows what the prisoners
felt that night.
Nobody understands the excruciating
pain and fear that ran through their minds,
like a stampede of wild horses.
The cramped space and lack of oxygen
in the cattle cars scarred them for life.
The blazing
fire and clouds of smoke smelled of human flesh.
Their stomachs growl
in hunger as they prepare for selection
and pray to live,
though not many did.
So as the endless
night fell upon them,
they felt in their hearts that
their lives will never be the same again.
Title Explanation
This book is titled Night because Elie's first time in Birkenau he realized that everything changed and that was when the "endless night" fell upon him and all the other prisoners at the camp.
