Task:
How can the use of technology incorporate writing activities into lessons? Today, you will be working with the support of a computer buddy to create a “Hot Topic” list which can be used to facilitate the use of writing activities within your instruction. This “Hot Topic” page will be used to help your students research information for a BCR or ECR, which they will write in class or for homework. This “Hot Topic” page will not only provide essential research and information you want your kids to know about a topic, it will also teach them technology skills while keeping them away from the dangers of the Internet. Keep the following questions in mind as you go through this WebQuest:
- What topics could I teach through the use of independent research?
- What web sites would I want my students to see relating my topic?
- What BCR or ECR could be used to assess their knowledge of the research?
- How will I communicate my expectations for my students for their BCR or ECR?
- How will this web page make learning more interesting for my students?
- How can I make this page so interesting that my kids will want to look at it at home?
