Geometer's Sketchpad Directions

First

Remember what you learned about the different kinds of transformations? Now it is time to practice them, using Geometer's Sketchpad. To see or print out a copy of the GSP Tools click here.

Read all the directions CAREFULLY before you begin!

Second

  • Start a new Geometer's Sketchpad page. Name your file with your last name and trans (for transformations.)
  • Draw a regular pentagon (all sides and angles congruent.)
  • Copy your polygon
  • Rotate this copy 45º to the right. Color it red. Label it rotation.
  • Copy your polygon again and color this one blue.
  • Do a translation of your polygon. Label it translation.
  • Copy your polygon one more time and color it green.
  • Reflect your polygon across a horizontal line. Label it Horizontal Reflection.
  • Reflect it again across a vertical line. Label it Vertical Reflection.
  • Copy your polygon once again. Use a different color. Do a non-congruent transformation of your polygon. What should you label it? Do it now.
  • Write your name on your page.
  • Title it: Various Transformations
  • Print it and hand it in.
