Leader:
The group leader facilitates
the work of the group. Leadership skills may include giving directions
(reviewing instructions, restating the goals of the group, offering procedures
on how to complete a task more effectively); summarizing aloud what has
been read
and/or discussed; and generating
responses by going beyond the first answer or conclusion and producing
a number of plausible answers to choose from.
Reader:
The reader in the group is responsible
for reading the group's material aloud so that the group members can understand
and remember it.
Writer-recorder:
The writer-recorder records
the response of the group on paper, on Microsoft Word, edits what the group
has written, and makes sure the group members check for content accuracy
and completeness. *This is only during group activities.*
Checker:
The checker makes sure the group
is on target by checking on what is being learned by the members. The checker,
therefore, may ask individuals in the group to explain or summarize the
material being discussed.
Encourager:
The encourager watches to make
sure that all members in the group are participating and invites reluctant
or silent members to contribute.
Time-keeper:
The time-keeper calls attention
to time limits. It is the time-keepers responsibility to regularly communicate
with the teacher to determine how much time will be neede for each task.
