Directions for M&M Probability Activity (Print this page.)

1. Both you and your partner will get a bag of M&M’s from your teacher.

2. Take out your math journals, title your entry, M&M Probability,
and write today’s date. You will use your journal to record the following information:

Estimation of M&M’s in the bag.
Estimation of how many of each color in the bag.

3. Now open up your bag, count how many M&M’s total and how many of each color. Record your
results.

4. Write at least 2 math sentences from the findings. (i.e. 8 green + 6 yellow = 14). Be creative
with your math sentences.

5. Share your math journal entry with your partner and enjoy eating your data.
