"In
truly good writing no matter how many times you read it you do not know
how it is done.
That
is because there is mystery in all good wiriting and that mystery does
not dis-sect out.
It
continues and it is always valid. Each time you re-read you learn
or see something new."
- Hemingway
to Harvey Breit, Selected Letters, 1952
It is your task and charge as a reader, writer, and thinker in this class, to consider, revisit and continually explore the texts that we consider together and to, ultimately, continue to "learn or see something new." The following activities will assist you as you take on Hemingway's A Farewell to Arms. You have a total of 9 options and you must complete a minimum of five thorughout the course of the time spent on this novel. Incremental deadlines will be announced in class. Though you will have some lab time to work on each task, this will undoubtably require some of your own time as well. Presentation counts so be sure to type your work. In the case of art, keep it neat! You will be graded on accuracy and effort.
