Part of what we've discussed about this text is Hemmingway's use of sparse prose to create a rich, lustrous scene. He does this both in describing place and in placing characters in a moment of action. Your task will be to use the medium of poetry to imitate this same rich, precise style of prose. Your particular poems will need to convey the action of chosen sections of the text.
1. Select a chapter or series
of chapters that your work will focus upon.
2. Write at least three,
15 line poems which conscisely capture the action of the selection while
also richly establishing place. You will want to use sensory images
throughout your writing.
3. Do not develop a rhyme
scheme.
4. Title and type each poem.
5. Illustrate at least one
of your three poems.
This assignment is worth a possible
25 points.
