Do You Agree?  What makes up your "self" in addition to your name?

We have already discussed the symbolism and meaning of your name--but what are the other aspects of YOU?  Your identity much more.  During this project your team will explore the definition of "identity."

Task
Before we can hope to understand others, we must first understand ourselves.  You will be working in groups of two or three as you examine various resources online in order to find out:

  • Process

  • Choose one other person to be your partner.
    (In classes with uneven numbers of students, there may be one group of three.)
  • You will take turns with each job.  Click here for job information.
  • Complete the Who Am I? Assignment
  • Produce a definition and Identity Format.
  • Complete the format for yourself.
  • Create two poems that convey your idea of "self." Share your draft with your partner.

    Edit the poems before submitting them using proofreading marks.

    Submit your work.

    At the end of one week your group will turn in the group work and the individual poems.  You will be evaluated on your exploration of the term "identity" and the extent to which your poetry thoughtfully expresses your idea of self.
