Introduction

Welcome to the virtual tour of the human body!  You will join a team of scientists to become an expert on one human body system.  You will be learning about the functions, systems, and proper care of the human body.  At the conclusion of the WebQuest, you will learn the dieseases that affect the human body and how your body fights disease. You will explore the digestive, respiratory, circulatory system.  You will learn how the skeletal and muscular system interact with each other.  You will also explore the nervous system and endocrine system.  As you learn about the system you are assigned, you will examine the need for proper nutrition and exercise.  Finally, you will discover the function of food and the impact of stress upon the body functions.  Have fun taking your virtual tour through the body.  Sit back and enjoy the trip!

Task

You will begin your power through the human systems
by doing the following:

1. Each lab group will be assigned a human system and a job.
2. First read about the role and function of the human system using web sites,
books, and CD-ROM's. Then use your notes guide to take notes on what you read.
3. Each person that has the same human system is assigned one
    of the following jobs:

Doctor, Physical Trainer, Dietitian, Graphic Designer, or Integrator

3. Next research your human system according to your job. Example: The doctor will research diseases. Again take notes on your notes guide and use  web sites, books, and CD- ROM's.
4. You will have time in the computer lab to create TWO Power Point slides.  One will be on the role and function and the other will be about your job that you researched.  You will then import your slide with the other slides completed in your group (8 slides total).
5. Finally, each human system team will present their human system orally to the class via a
power point presentation.  Check out Mrs. Schnirel's Power Point about
the requirements for your presentation.  CLICK HERE!

Process

1.The class will divide into lab groups to research one human system.  Each person within a group will be assigned a job.

Click on the following to learn about your job:

Doctor
Physical Trainer
Dietitian
Graphic Designer
Integrator

2. Begin researching the role and function of your assigned human system. Take notes on all the facts you find on your notes guide (click here to print notes guide)based on your job and human system.
3.Then research your assigned human system according to your job. (ie- doctor/diseases)
4. Using Microsoft Power Point, your group will create a cover page
slide and slides on the role and function of your human system.
5.  You will then create a Power Point slide based on your
research about your job for your human system.
6.  You should create TWO slides by yourself (one on the role and function and the other on your job) and then you will import your slides with the others in your group.  You will have about nine total slides for your presentation depending on how many people are in your group. Your group will present the Power Point presentation on your assigned system.   Check out Mrs. Schnirel's Power Point for the requirements for your presentation.  CLICK HERE

Conclusion

When your WebQuest is finished, you will have a better understanding of how the human body works. All human systems interact to keep the body functioning and are equally important.  You have learned that the human systems supports, protects, stores, and takes part in blood cell formation.  You explored how the body breaks down food, fights disease, and pumps blood through the body. Also, you have experienced using multi-media software to illustrate your research  and to learn information about other systems.  It is hoped by the conclusion of your WebQuest experience you have background knowledge on the human body systems as well as experience exploring the internet and creating  a presentation
via Power Point.
