Seventh Grade Life Science!

Team Notes: 

1.Progress reports will be distributed on Monday, February 26 for all classes.  They need to be signed and returned the next day.
2. Conference Day is Thursday, March 1st.  We ask parents to sign up if your child is failing two or more subjects.  If you like to have a phone conference, the team teachers are usually free at 9:30am.
3. If you know of or you are interested in volunteering for the annual Deer Creek field trip at the end of May, please let me know.  We are looking for volunteers that are knowledgeable in aquatic invertebrates and a plant hike. lead a station for three days (7:30am-1:30pm).  If yourself, college students, anyone else you may know, please call me at school 410-638-3658 or e-mail me at lifescience7@yahoo.com.

Units of Study:
Current Unit: Time Travels (geologic time)
Students will begin with the Precambrian Era and travel through time to our most current era: Cenozoic Era.  On their journey, students will learn about fossils, view protists through the microscope, dissect the earthworm, perch, and frog.  Our next unit will be Genetics and Outbreak.

Science Current Event due: Feburary 23rd & 26th

Class Expectations:

1. Actively participate in class, be prepared with all materials.
    Always  check the material board to find out what to bring to class.
2.Grading is kept on a point system.  Each student keeps a gradesheet
   that is a replica of my grade book.  Parent/guardians should sign
   the gradesheet next to returned grades by Thursday night.  Grade
   sheets will be collected on Friday's for bonus points.
3.Homework will be given for enrichment and review. Usually
   homework is between 5 to 10 points.
4. Please check the this web site or during homeroom for missed
    work.  Students with an excused absence will have the number of
    days absent plus one to make up all work.
5.  Students will write a review for a current science article once a
    month.  Students may earn up to 15 points for current events.
6. Students are expected to keep a 3'' notebook for all team subjects
    and are responsible for keeping it organized.  Dividers are: Drills, Homework/classwork, and Test and Quizzes.
7. Wear a smile and have a positive attitude!
