Our classroom judge will probably only have one to two court cases during
the school year. However, being judge is a very important role.
If a dispute arises
between your classmates and they are unable to resolve the issue privately,
your teacher
may decide that they may take the matter to your courtroom.
Your job :
Run the courtroom, making sure that people speak at the appropriate
times.
Direct the witnesses and lawyers to behave properly.
Ask any additional questions that you feel are important.
Direct the jury in their decision making.
Once the jury reaches a verdict, it is your job to read the verdict
first and then have the foreman
read the decision outloud. After a defendent is found guilty,
it is your job to decide on the most
appropriate punishment (with the help of your teacher).
