Step 1
Everybody has a job in the group, and everybody will take their own notes.


Chairperson This group member is responsible for reporting the groups' findings to the teacher and the rest of the class.
Graphic Artist This group member is responsible for recording the groups' ideas on the graphic organizer with Inspiration.
Gatekeeper This group member is responsible for keeping everybody in the group on task.
Materials Gatherer This group member is responsible for gathering any materials the group may need.

Step 2 Treasure Hunt-  As a group you will complete the online treasure hunt about pollution and ecosystems.  Remember to take notes as you go because some of this information could be useful for your graphic organizer and persuasive writing piece.
Step 3 Discussion Group-  In your group discuss what pollution is, and things people can do to stop the spread of pollution.
Step 4 Graphic Organizer-  The graphic artist in each group will record the groups' ideas on how to stop pollution in their environments using Inspiration.  Each group member must contribute at least 2 ideas to the graphic organizer.
Step 5 Writing the letter-  Each individual in the group will write their own letter to a Maryland State Senator explaining what they have learned about pollution in ecosystems.  Each letter should also be written to persuade the senator to pass laws limiting the amount of pollution in the ecosystems in Maryland.  You may want to refer to the rubric to see how you will be graded.
Step 6 Peer Editing- Get together with another group member and edit each other's paper using the P-Q-P method.  Have the materials gather get the P-Q-P papers from the teacher.
Step 7 Group Evaluation-  As a group refer to the rubric to make sure each group member is getting the maximum number of points.
Step 8 Presentation-  Each member of the group will read their persuasive piece to the class.  Refer to the rubric for grading information on the presentation.
