Norma Jean Dougherty

Summary::
        For many people across America, Marilyn Monroe still remains Hollywood's most unforgettable sex symbol.  Since she was young she wanted to be a actress and to be in the movies.  The title of the book is Norma Jean My Secret Life With Marilyn Monroe by Ted Jordan.  The story was about Ted Jordan (Arthur of the book) falling in love with Norma Jean Baker.  Even after she became famous they were still friends and they stayed friend till the day she died.  When they first met their dreams were to become movie stars, at first they were in small parts fro many different movies then Norma Jean hit it big and that was when they changed her name to Marilyn Monroe.  But not soon after that the company dropped her from the contract because she was never on time and was shy in front of the camera.  And then she had to start all over but with all the bad rumor going around it looked like it was impossible to get back to the movies.  But Norma Jean finally got a break at fox studio by then Ted and Norma Jean have broken up but they were still close friends and always talked on the phone.  A few years later she had been married twice and divorced.  Norma Jean has been going through some hard times and she now lives in New York.  Every time they met up at a restaurant Ted noticed she was getting worse every time because his uncle was supplying her with pills.  She says they  helped her sleep because she always had a problem going to sleep.  Ted tried to tell his uncle to cut her medication down but he never did.  Later they both moved back to Hollywood and they only lived a few streets away from each other. One night during one of their usually phone calls Norma Jean told him that she was going out with the president (JFK) Ted tried to tell her he was using her but she ignored him. She always had a short temper and if he disagreed with her she would go off and ignored every word.  On another phone call she told him that she was going to move in with the president in the White House and Ted tried to convince her that she was being used but again she ignored him.  A week or two later she walked to his house late one night she gave him her box of stuff like their poems the recited together, pictures, and other things she said she would keep forever.  He asked why she was giving back their things they shared when they were together, she just said that it would be better if he kept them.  The next morning he was on his way to apply for a new job when he turned on the radio he heard ". . . and police have ruled it preliminarily an apparent suicide"  he stopped his car on the side of the road and thought to himself that it wasn't Norma Jean.  And the next sentence he heard was "Police said that Marilyn Monroe was alone at the time of her death".  He hurried back to her house thinking they must have made a mistake shes not dead.  When he arrived at her house there were reporters, and police cars everywhere, then in that moment he was in shock that she was really gone.

My Opinion::
        I think this book is incredible that this guy fell in love with a movie star and he knew all about her personal life and he is the only one.  When he met her he didn't know she was going to become famous he really had many doubts about he becoming a movie star.  Not everyone can meet a star before they become one and then be friends with them for the rest of their life.  Ted Jordan was a lucky man to meet her and I loved his book.
