Introduction

Mrs. Williams needs your help in teaching the class. Studies show that peers often learn best from each other. As we begin trigonometry, you will be learning a great deal of vocabulary and new concepts.

In this task, you will be in groups of four or five to research various topics, create a PowerPoint presentation and then teach  the class what you have learned before we discuss the topic as a whole.

Task

  1.)  You will be placed into an assigned group with an assigned list of topics;

2.) You will research your given topic(s) via the Internet. The following information about the topic must be included in your research:
  1. Definition
  2. Example
  3. How, When and Where the topic(s) can be used in real-life
3.) Once the information has been gathered, each group will create a Power Point presentation that will be shared with the rest of the class.

Evaluation

1.) The Power Point presentation must include a minimum of fiveslides that incorporate the following:

2.) The following rubric will be used to assess yourgroup's project:

Components 1 2 3
Elements of Power Point Presentation 3 or less elements 4 or less elements all elements included
Definition partial definition copied from source put into understandable terms
Example Incorrect example Example but no explanation Example and full explanations
Real-life applications no association with real-life associated with real-life but not explained how A real-life explanation that has been explained
Group Members no slide that lists group members not all of the group members included on the slide All group members included on the slide

Conclusion
Throughout this activity, you have been actively involved in the planning of our trigonometry unit of study. Now that you are able to see how the trigonometric topics relate to each other, you will be able to interpret and model real-world situations using the language of trigonometry and appropriate technology.
