Functional Test


Functional tests assess whether a student has attained basic competency in reading, mathematics, writing, and citizenship. Results are reported as the percentage of students passing the tests by the end of grade 9 and the end of grade 11. In accordance with national trends, the majority of students in urban school systems (Baltimore City and Prince Georges county) had lower functional reading, writing, and mathematics test scores than their counterparts in suburban school systems (Baltimore County and Montgomery County).
