Data Driven Instruction


Effective urban educators use data to improve instruction, as well as their students' academic skills, competence, learning, and performance.
  • The progress of students in the Success for All (SFA) reading program was assessed quarterly to ensure an accurate match between student performance and instruction. In addition, assessment data was used to group and regroup students at the end of each instructional period.
  • Teachers at a successful urban school in high poverty contexts worked with instructional specialists to create performance-based practice assessments; and they used data from the assessments to improve instruction
